This temple can be divided into two sections: The north half of the temple is located in area of the Golden Mount. The shrine of Phra Attharot image and the consecrated canvocation hall. This is the Buddha’s Residence. The South separated by a road is the Monks’ living section.

1 Borom Banphot or the Golden Mount
The Borom Banphot Commonly known as the golden mount was constructed in the shape of a mountain.
The Golden Mount
King Rama I who restored Wat Srakae and renamed it Wat Sraket. After that King Rama III (1824-1854) who began the building of the Golden Mount and wished to construct model of the Pagoda of Wat Phukhao Thong in the Reign of Ayutthaya Period.
King Rama IV appointed Phraya Raja Song-Cram as an engineering to construct a pagoda and renovated the Golden Mount and called it “Rayal Mountain”.
The work on the Royal Mount was not completed until the reign of King Rama V who completed the construction of the Golden Mountain. The Golden Mount took three reigns to be completed.
2. A Buddha Relic
2.1 On the first occasion
In 1877, King Rama V brought the Buddha Relic in the custody of Chakri Dynasty and enshrined the Buddha Relic in the Pagoda on the top of the Golden Mount by His Majesty.
2.2 On the second occasion
In 1899 the Buddha Relic was discovered near Piprahwa district on the Nepalese Border, an area of the old Kapilavastu city and the Buddha Relic having been in an urn was inscribed with ancient scripts. It was believed to be the Portion received by Sakaya Dynasty after the cremation of the Buddha’s mortal remains.
At the time India was under of England. Marguis Curzon was the viceroy of India and had been a good friend of King Rama V and he decided to present the Relic to His Majesty.
The king Rama V inserted the Buddha Relic into a bronze pagodat. The Pagoda was installed on the top of the Golden Mount.
